Many elderly Indos continue to live in Indonesia, facing challenges due to lost of their European birth certificates.
Their parents may have lost these documents during the Japanese Occupation of the former Dutch East Indies (1942-1945) or in the fires of the Indonesian Independence War (Bersiap 1945-1946). Others were unable to register their application in time when transitioning from the new Republic of Indonesia to The Netherlands. Additionally, some were born as a result of relationships between European men and indigenous women, leaving them without the European birth certificates from the former Dutch East Indies. SoCal Indo aims to support these elderly Indos who have been left behind, and you can help by making a donation.
